JANET LUMB

I am a social activist in heart, mind and spirit, inspired by people, arts, culture, education, and ecology. I was born in Toronto, settled in Vancouver for 10 years, lived the majority of my life in Montreal and call all three cities, home. My inspiration is Jean Lumb, who was a pioneer, a fighter, an activist, and my mother. She walked past two white schools to attend a segregated school for natives and Asians in the 1920s and lost her citizenship when she married my father. As a third-generation Chinese Canadian, artist, and community organizer, I love to play, explore, and collaborate with artists in multidisciplinary settings. A great believer in the chaos theory, that there is order of chaos, I continue to take chances in the magic of the moment.
